Scila Newsletter 2024 Q1 – Speed is important – in our products

Scila has enjoyed a great deal of success – mainly because of happy customers informing other individuals and firms that they should take a look at us and our products – and so our client base has grown steadily and internationally. The benefit of this longer and more thoughtful path to success is that the quality of our products and support for our extremely diverse client base has matched their demands precisely.

Gaining knowledge and experience, through long term teamwork pays off

Open and honest communication through strong interpersonal relationships within the firm have shaped Scila’s unique approach to understanding customer needs, designing solutions and framing the quality of support and understanding that each client expects.

Building on these strong foundations has helped the firm build training and communications skill acquisition in a very technically oriented environment. Adding team members is carefully done and for the long term, as we know that the real cost of a poorly thought through recruiting outcome isn’t just financial, it impacts the team. So assessing the risk of failure or success at all levels has become second nature to the senior members of the company, giving us a resilience that isn’t present in new, rapidly changing, accelerated growth companies, where a poor fit, over estimated skills or cultural clashes can result in major setbacks for the company and for the clients.

Dependability of the partner/provider in key business areas

Scila’s focus for many years has been on understanding how the technology to support the understanding of trading has to be structured for unexpected growth and increased complexity, without compromising the role that the products play at the firms that use it.

Luck has played its part too – being selected for complex projects by very challenging clients (regulators and exchanges) at the outset gave us an unparalleled opportunity to achieve what today for many newcomers is unreachable. Being able to react appropriately and meet very urgent modification requirements in a very dynamic world of rapidly changing regulatory environments, is the level of dependability that customers often hope to have but rarely obtain.

Building for the future

Narrow focus can be good. All things to all men, is not really possible today, without the heavy baggage that giant broad reaching organisations bring with them. Scila’s foundation is in place, designed to carry a heavy load, and please a discerning audience. Like Aesop’s tortoise, Scila’s skills and experience will help us reach the finish line first, reliably and safely.

Asian expansion – new office, new hires

Scila Pte Ltd is moving to its new location in One Raffles Place Tower 2 in May 2024 confirming the expansion of our Asian business. Scila has added Crawford Lin as our regional support for Asia. This confirms the solid growth potential for Multi Asset Trade Surveillance and Risk Management solutions in the region and our commitment to the APAC region.

Another award

Scila has yet again been nominated in the Best Trade Surveillance Solution category in the A-Team Insight Awards USA.

As you may already know, Scila Surveillance is truly multi-asset class, real time, tried and tested by users at regulators, exchanges, brokers, banks, market makers, and proprietary traders around the world.
